Default Covid Concern for Silverstne

At the risk of someone making comments which cause a dispute and therefore get the thread cancelled, here I go.

Silverstone may host up to 140,000 visitors, oh, add the teams, hospitality, security, support and fence hoppers, that's a lot of people crammed together trusting each other.

Yes, they "have to prove they have negative tested",but you only have to see that either they produce a printed proof or a picture on their phone, which in reality proves nothing. Trust is paramount, but this does involve the British public.

I did not want such an event cancelled, it's important to move on by adaptation to the virus. I really hope that the outcome is successful in respect of Covid.

The weather will cause problems and the support services will have to deal with those, good luck to them.

Only thing I've herd in the news was Hamilton "taking out" Max Verstappen.
Max was really travelling when he hit the tyre wall and came to a "sudden" stop.

Seen video clips and I'm not sure if it was just an accident but an enquiry held Hamilton at fault.

I saw it and think anybody else, it would be termed as a racing incident. It was a poor bit of desperate driving on Hamilton's part, though Verstappen did turn in.

Agreed. Not being a particular fan of LH but enjoying the whole thing, I saw it as a racing incident made worse by a refusal to give way in dangerous positions. Verstappen was understandably desperate to keep LH behind him and I'm afraid the competitive spirit combined with youthful exuberance/blood rush overcame him.

At a notorious bend (Copse) LH was taking the inside and his nose and Left front wheel were alongside the middle of the other car. That very fact makes the point, it is then within rules to take precedence and overtake. Something which the team leader of Red Bull conveniently omitted to acknowledge.

Verstappen refused to let it happen, turned even further in, in an effort to get LH to back off, which caused the contact. He lost traction which caused him to spin and lose his Left rear tyre with front wheels on the opposite lock. That lost all braking effect and only the barrier stopped him. If it had been anyone other than Verstappen it would probably not have happened. There is no history to claim differently about LH, he has an unusually good record.

What sickens is the reaction afterwards by the usual rabble online. Anywhere else would be followed by arrests for 'hate crime'. These people are identifiable given the will to so do, and severe penalties could be levied. It's time the keyboard cowards were given a seeing to.

I totally agree with Raymond (post 4)

His description tallies with what I said to Jan, as we watched it live, on TV.

I would certainly say first and foremost, a racing incident.

If blame has to be apportioned, I will go 90% MV, 10% LH

Regards

Mike
