Is this the one here http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/down...ile=tid027.pdf as it doesn't mention removing an existing wire.

I'm sure this is the thread Greeners is refering to, it's what I used to install mine, and it's very clear.

Default Trafficmaster question

I have had Trafficmaster in my 05 car from new but have never activated the satnav.(she says 'guidance not active') however, about 18 months ago, the speed camera alert started working with beeps as I approached a camera. It's stopped working now.
Have I disabled it in some way and if so how do I get it back or was I just on a 'free trial'. Doon't wnt to subscribe.

Reebs....beat me to it...well done.

I've done 2 using Dr Daves instructions. I suspect the official reason to remove that wire is for the lowline sat nav. On one of the threads, keith did suspect you can't have both, but I don't think it was ever fully answered.

Thanks for that.

As I don't have a lowline (or highline) satnav in my car I'll leave it connected at the moment ans see what happens. If it does not work for some reason I'll swap them around.

Your system is the Optional Smart Nav system and is a Subscription based service.
There are various rates and you can see them on the Traffic Master Web Site.

Sometimes parts of the system carried on working but does expire.
To get it back you have to Subscribe.

To contact the Smartnav control centre you need to press and hold the button for 2 seconds. If I press it quickly (usually because I've aimed at the wrong button!) I get the 'guidance not active' message. I registered my Smartnav last year when I bought my 75, the previous owner hadn't bothered to register it. Smartnav told me that I had 30 (IIRC) free routes and 3 years free camera alerts from the date of registration. After that, its a paid subscription and I think the camera alerts sub is about £100 a year.

I found it a Pain with all the Bleeping.

There are over 6,000 safety cameras installed on UK roads today and this number is continuing to grow. They are often located at accident black spots to reduce speed and prevent accidents. Interestingly, in a Mori survey it was found that motorists using speed camera detection devices travelled over 50% more miles between accidents than those without these devices.
What may be more worrying to some drivers is that the government predicts that there will be 3 million speeding convictions, due to the increase in safety cameras. So to protect you and your car, Smartnav offers Safe Speed, an optional service that alerts you to the accident blackspots and safety cameras.
The Smartnav Safe Speed option alerts you when you approach zones monitored by fixed safety cameras, variable safety cameras and multi-camera detectors (also known as Specs). There are three audible alert stages. Three beeps warn you as you approach a monitored zone, followed by five beeps immediately before you enter the zone. These beeps remind you to concentrate on the road ahead, and give you enough time to correct your speed.
If you continue driving over the limit through the zone, continuous beeps warn you until your speed falls below the limit.
