Probably won't affect the south of France too much, either way.

The new Government, a coalition of Tory-hating Liberal Democrat sellouts, and a collection of unknown blue-rinsers, will drop you right in it.

Doesn't mean I am not interested in the political situation in the UK, the rest of my family still live there.

List them, don't be shy.

Too many people make statements like this without being specific.
List them, then tell me in 1 or 2 years time which have improved.

Well thats a matter of opinion

I know you think we have a level playing field but try telling that to British families who have been on the housing list for years in some cases when a single mother and 6 kids from Somalia shows up and is given priority.

Very easy to be idealistic from a nice rural location.

Well, yes I suppose it would be easy to be idealistic from a rural hideaway.....but the reality is that for the last two and a half years I was working in Swadlincote Derbyshire, (so not so far away from you) alongside, amongst other people, the Housing Dept of the County Council....during which time we saw one individual who might safely fit your description..all the rest were locals...back here in Lincolnshire, Boston supposedly 'has a massive immigrant problem'....the BNP and UKIP and independent candidates all played on how they were getting first shot at all the houses etc...so the local council released their housing figures for the past four years...in that time all of 37 individuals / families had been placed in council accommodation...out a housing stock of 6000 + all the rest had gone to locals....always best to avoid making assumptions methinks..

Anyway, I wish the new collaborative administration the best of British.....they are going to need it.

I'm not assuming anything, but working somewhere and having to live there permanently are two entirely different things.

I know Swadlincote well and would hardly say it can be compared to a large inner city area with all the multicultural pressures for housing

Having previously lived and worked in Derbyshire for 13 years I think I qualify on both counts.....actually, fair does, I was living in the centre of Sheffield whilst working in Derbyshire for a few years first too...

I would agree with your second statement...but then prior to Swad, one of my other roles was working in inner city Lincoln, on a large council-owned housing estate which has all of the issues you'd expect. Again...avoid assumptions..

Oh dear...it's all going wrong already...George Osbourne as Chancellor...
