Default EBay £60 Chrome Door Protectors...

Has anyone bought a set of these please.
They look great but at £60 a set I'm going to feel sick if they have come from Aliexpress or similar for £4 a set.
Fair play to the seller if he has had them specialty made in which case I'll gladly buy a set.

Slighty depends if they are original MGR plastic or the Later ( specially made for the forum members here) plates made of Chrome plated Brass.

They all often seem to attract silly money .

I filed a claim with Paypal as the ones in the photo have the bevelled edges for the handle ends to recess into. The ones that got delivered didn’t have this and they didn’t fit. They looked like Croft’s but were cheap plastic and held the handle off slightly making it protrude.

The buyer feedback says they're chromed plastic.

Hi Alan.
I am quite surprised about the above with David as he is a decent chap, we at the Nano meets have dealt with him for various parts over the last 5 years or more and all have been good quality, the originals were plastic chromed, not brass chromed.

He is usually fast of the mark to changed or refund if any item as a fault, I know he got a box full of these from somewhere.

I Have several original door protectors in front of me over time they start to pit and the chrome gets scratched with rings, key etc and just general grit, the original were plastic, the remakes were brass chromed and as said above already an agreement was made with any members whom purchased them would not gain from selling them on, some decided not to stick to this agreement few photo below of the ones I have, note the pitting.

Fitted on the car from a distance they look great, up close not to good.

I do not begrudge the seller at all but these must be worth about £10 at the most cost price?

Mines are made on plastic and chrome I can tell that the same material/construction as the chrome bullet cover from the side mirrors. For sure they aren´t Chrome Plated Brass, I took it out from a 2000 Rover 75 and have the beveled edges for the handle ends to recess into.

I´ll post some pics this afternoon.

Cheers..!!!
