Dismantle Push Button Switches
Has anyone dismantled one of the centre console push buttons?
I have a Traction pushbutton that I want to take the oval top off to replace the round one on French Mikes FBH contol box. I have removed it from the switch but there is still quite a bit that appears to be glued together. Just thought I'd ask before I get the junior hacksaw out. SteveNM

I'm unclear what you're tryting to do, but is it related to dismantling the rear box?

Hi TC,
The button on the right in your first picture, I just need the hollow dome. SteveN

Hmm, it looks pretty tightly attached to the other bit. It may be 'glued' on, but I suspect more likely to be a one-way snap together fitting. With no access to the fitting, your suggested hacksaw may be the only solution. I'll be interested to know. Good luck.

I 'dismantled' one once. When I say dismantled, I mean destroyed. I had separated as in t-cut's picture above, withdrawing all the gubbins inside. The plan was to mount a USB socket into it. I had drilled it with the domed part still attached to the 'backing' of it. Once it was drilled it was flexible enough to pull off (by that stage I had given up on the idea). From memory it prised off, but with difficulty, and as I said it had the centre drilled out of it, so could be flexed. It will come off, but it will be on very very tightly.
