Default Stalling diesel

53 plate diesel estate automatic
After spending about 15 mins trying to start the car, it started and I drove off, after about 1.5 miles it stalled and I coasted to a halt. After about 5 mins of trying it restarted only to stall again after about 1/4 of a mile.
It then would only start and run for a couple of seconds before stalling again.
The AA was called
He removed the larger pipe from the thing arrowed in the pic and when cranking fuel squirted out everywhere.

He ran a check and said that codes
4704 :- pre-feed preasure below operating preasure
7717 :- (can't read his writing) camshaft malfunction !!!!!!
He towed me home
Car will crank for about 10 seconds, then starts but only if throttle pedal is fully down, once started it will idle for a max of 5 seconds and then stalls.
Whilst ticking over the engine sound sweet.
I have checked the plenum for water and there was loads in there, looks like the bottom of the pollen filter was wet, I've now emptied it and unblocked the tube

Any suggestions, I've read through loads of threads about water getting into the ECU, if left to dry will it sort itself out or not
Working on the assumption that it does run ok once started I'm hoping there's not too much wrong, what sort of costs am I looking at if the ECU is fried

Contact a member called Marinabrian for the ECU...

It may be your ecu or half a dozen other bits... none of which will break the bank....

Try taking out the ECU, remove the inards and put in a bowl of rice in a warm place for 24 hours. That will get rid of any residual water. I know from experience that it can save loads of hassle.

Nice try, the ECM is not an iPhone that's been dropped into the toilet though

I've deleted a few messages and made some space

Having not had the time during this week to look at the car it's just been left on the drive.
Today it started on the button and has been idling ok for ten mins,so I think I may have been very lucky.
Lesson learned "check plenum for water"
I'll go for a drive later to see what happens

I disagree. The toilet is the appropriate location for anything crApple.

Anyway, if you've got away with it, lucky you – I didn’t. My ECM was bone dry, but every so often, the car would just cut out. And it wouldn’t start when it was freezing outside.

Pulling the ECM apart revealed that, although dry now, it had spent a fair portion of its life half-submerged.

Exchange unit from The Marina Man sorted it out, and I didn’t even have to buy a Marina…

Not too dear either

Woah woah woah with all the iPhone bashing...
Sounds suspiciously like a drowned ECU. First 75 had very similar symptoms when it went swimming.

You know that dreamy, far-away, drool that Homer does when he's thinking about doughnuts... Mmmmmm... bashing an iPhone (with a hammer)...
