I'm surprised any courier would accept it in that condition. Batteries I have bought in the past, have had a proper bung to seal the vent hole and the entire battery being tightly hermetically sealed in thick plastic container, padded with polystyrene, then a strong cardboard box.

I had to return a faulty one, but was unable to find a courier to transport it if called a battery, it had to be described as an 'accumulator' and again sealed up as above.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Absolutely Harry. Battery acid is a dangerous thing to transport. It's dangerous to peoples skin, their clothes and to the vehicle doing the transporting if there should be a leak of acid.
Sticky tape over breather holes is just not on.

Yes it was packed in a sealed plastic bag and encased in polystyrene and an outer cardboard box. All the leaked acid had been held by the plastic bag, so I was happy with it from a safety point of view, not so much with the missing plug.

Avoid at all costs. My TF one was replaced twice under warranty – lasted about a year in each case.

Gone for Exide now, 5 year guarantee…

Of course, as with all the "I get 65mpg out of my Rover" threads, someone will doubtless pop up telling us how he's had one for 37 years, still going strong

The difference generally between a 1 year and a 5 year guarantee, from the same manufacturer - is only the label and the extra cost.

The extra charged covers for the batteries which do fail within the 5 years.

A friends father had a battery making small company.

He used to sell batteries at different prices. The GOLD label battery was much dearer than the SILVER label battery,---The only difference between the two was the label.--
