I too rode all year round.

But in later years I was a fully signed up wimp. Gerbing do heated socks/long johns/jacket liner and gloves - all connected up to the BeeM which had plenty of juice to power them all . Plenty of mates took the rip until we were 10 miles down the road.......me with toasty toes and fingers, them not able to feel the controls.

Still have the Knox Cold Killers which have seen action today while walking Quizzie

I had the heated gloves wired into the bike, PITA, running wires down your sleeves like a kid with gloves tied together so as not to lose one

The lad in the picture clearly doesn't mind all the slush and spray heading up the loose leg of his waterproof trousers.
I'll never forget the ride home after a New Year's Eve gathering 8 or 9 years back. In spite of the sleet and lying snow on the way down the evening before, while I had no heated grips etc I was still wrapped up well enough to be nice and snug for the 90-minute ride. A hold up the following day meant we didn't leave until around 7pm, when it was already five or six degrees below zero. Within about 10 minutes, I had resorted to riding one handed so as to tuck my left hand under my right thigh. As for the right hand, I'm convinced I had the beginnings of frostbite by the time we got home - the fingers were raw and painful for several days afterwards. As far as I'm concerned, I'll happily use heated gloves or heated grips and even strap a hot water bottle under my jacket if it keeps me warm! I didn't buy my machine in order to suffer ...

Went down to see my mate in Berwick one winter. Got colder the further I went to the extend that when I arrived my gas cigarette lighter wouldn't work until it warmed up!

Same here, I'd have given my left big toe for a trike back then. Once did a 180 on ice at about 2mph with both feet down. lol. (small light bike).

Slight correction, he can't fall over. Falling off is easy when frozen solid.

Don't take your test in Germany you say.

One really good reason would be you would probably need to learn German.----

My dad never took a test and drove just about everything on the road. just applied for a license back then! He learned on the road of life! When I passed my test, he said "Now you start to learn to drive properly!" That night, I drove him to Scotland from Yorkshire! He slept most of the journey, so he must have felt comfortable!
