Question Replacement Headlights

This is a strange one your you guys
Today I fitted a new set of Quad projector lights to the car with Halos and main/full beam HID bulbs. Turned them on and everything worked great. When I started the engine and turned to side lights (Halos) everything was great. Turned then to main beam and the engine cut out. Tried again and the same thing happened.
Now here is the really strange part. Took the HIDS out of the new lights and put them into the old units, fitted them to the car and started it. No cutting out at all and all working as they should.
Any ideas what could have caused the engine to cut out?
