Default Tesco Double Sided Foam Tape

Do members think the above mentioned tape will be good enough to fit number plates to me car?

It should be fine if it's waterproof.-- The AMAZON version is.

Don't come to France with a stuck on plate though.---Over here it HAS to be riveted on by a registered dealer.---

Definitely no DIY.----------

That’s interesting, as most number plates on new vehicles in the UK are now stuck on.

Does the rule apply to all vehicles or domestic vehicles only ?

I’ve with Andy on this one, 3M is the way to go, screwing them on can lead to delaminating in the long term.

warm both the tape and the area to be stuck with a hair dryer too (especially at this time of year) and it will never come off without force.

You know that lots of French Gendarmes are a little bit anti-Brits and would like to welcome you to their country with the 135 euro fine.---

However being rich, like wot you are, it probably won't bother you.----

PS. About a fine like that in France.-- If you don't pay up on the spot they will take you to a cash machine.---If you can't do that they will confiscate your driving license until the fine is paid.---They also notify the DVLA so you can't apply for another one.---( As the saying goes, --they will have you by the short and curlies.---Ouch. )

"French Gendarmes are a little bit anti-Brits"

Not always. On the Matchless, on the way back from a rally in the pouring rain, they waved me round the toll booth for the peage. Good job as I was late for the Dieppe ferry.

I suspect that this is only the rule for cars registered in France rather than those visiting France. They would have to be compliant with the rules of the country in which they are registered.
