Default Error code P1666

Hi everyone
I have a MG 190 V6 which is running fine but i was just using Toaf to see if any error codes showing and i have this code logged P1666 Engine anti theft signal circuit malfunction.
Signal out of range/test complete/sporadic error.
Would anybody have any ideas if something is failing? as i say car runs fine.
thanks julian

Have a look here - the list of relevant codes from Lates - as you see PO 1666 does not feature - I sometimes get a code which is apparently a BMW only MEMS3 code and is spurious for our cars so assuming Lates list is complete I think it is BMW code. Post 5 onwards.

Hi Martin,

Lates admits in that thread that the list is "generic". None of the codes has the "P" prefix either so best ignored I think.

Julien; i have looked in RAVE for you and P1666 is listed. It confirms your findings with TOAF:
Engine anti-theft signal circuit malfunction. Anti-theft code, no successful communication.

Simon

Hi everyone
I think i have the answer to my code , after thinking about it i remember my wife trying to borrow my car one day with spare set of keys but she didnt realise one of them on the keyring was a spare blank on the keyring, It fitted ignition but wouldnt allow her to start as no chip inside it.

Gave me some very bad words about my unreliable car saying it wouldnt start but turned over fine , i came home from work realised what she had used and started straight away with the correct spare key.

maybe this had been logged in the system ?

thanks everyone

If you have a code reader - clear the error code and see if it resets or not - if not then you may have your answer.
