You need just the port seal info.

Yes,I got in touch with previous owner a while back and he worked on the pump after it was a FOCed or something

I suspect he fitted a FOC (Fabled Orange Clip) to the filter module. The filter module is on the LHS of the tank (irrespective whether it's a LHD or RHD model). It sounds like he didn't refit the seal correctly. The HowTo I linked will allow you to check and hopefully fix the leak at minimal cost.

Thanks for this thread, I now know why my V6 stinks of petrol when I fill it to the top, My son commented on this earlier this year, and I have noticed a smell when parking on an incline. Last week filled it up and stunk of petrol for a couple of days. Will book it into garage to get this fixed.

Job sorted,
New tank cap & seal fitted, the cap has a course thread and was obviously corroding, seal had been fitted badly and could see that it was distorted, fuel staining all around nearside of petrol tank. Must have been losing petrol for a long time! Another problem gone away!

At least I don't have to worry about lighting a fag in the car anymore.
