Engine mount ideas
A guy has recently posted on the wanted parts section mentioning that he has replaced his lower engine mount with one from a Mitsubishi although at the moment he isnt sure on the part number or anything.
Got me thinking so ive been trawling ebay looking for similar bars, if we could find a mount from another car that would do the job it would be ideal because i think £90 is disgusting for a mount like this So far i have found http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-CLIO-K...item35aa8d8ba1 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GEARBOX-ENGINE...item53e3b9acfb http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Mondeo-MK...item53df950521 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Engine-Mountin...item2eaea8c10a http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-ACCORD-F...item27b642a6ed And so on....you get the idea. My thought is to find a friendly and helpful motor factor who will let us measure the width between the two mounting holes and also the size of the hole in the mounts. It would be lovely to find a replacement we could all buy brand new for £20-£30 Is there anybody on the forum who works for a factor/garage/parts dept/etc who could maybe do some digging? Cheers Graham |

looks the closest I've seen so far. If someone can measure the hole diameters and the separation between them on an original, I'll ask the seller to compare and if its similar enough, I'll get one and be a guinea pig. |

Hi all interested in this one, i think mine may be a bit dodgy, my car jerks a little when changing into second,is if i cant control the clutch, is this a symptom of a worn mount? Also i saw one very similer on a volvo think it was an s80,

Mount
NAVRAC, that Vauxhall mount looks promising, says it is suitable up to the 3 litre diesels so it should be robust enough. Unfortunately I threw my old lower mount away but someone must be able to give the measurements. All I can remember is that the fat end is 2" thick!

I realize that you are talking of mounts for the diesels, however, I have in my hand one removed from a ZT160 petrol
The Mondeo mount is identical in configuration, even has the single strengthening member across the "oval" of the mount Sizes: Overall length 190mm Dimension between bolt holes 125mm, center to center Diameter of both fixing bolts or holes for same 6mm ( NOTE changed to 12mm on 7th Dec due to error on my part!) Overall width of larger end 70mm which one of the fixing bolts passes through, Later, this measurement changed to 73mm in light of Workaholics latest posts here on the subject Overall width of smaller end 30mm which bolt passes through Hope this info helps in the search Last edited by Martynp; 7th December 2010 at 20:15.. Reason: add overall for clarity---73mm not 70mm note 7Dec |

Great info Martyn, exactly what is needed. Will watch this thread with interest as I have been thinking along the same lines myself. Noticed that the Mondeo mount looked similar a couple of months ago but although cheaper new than a kosher 75 mount it would be better still if a new alternative from another car could be sourced for less than £25.
