Default Clear coat issue

When prepping for Gaydon I noticed about 10 tiny light specs on my roof which looks like the clear coat is starting to lift. I have previously had a couple of spots on the windscreen pillar which i flatted and brushed over with lacquer which seems to have halted the deterioration.
To do this with so many little spots is likely to start to look messy, has anyone any experience of anything similar and is it feasible that the whole roof could be resprayed with new clear coat and thus save any paint colour deterioration.

I am particularly concerned as I spoke to a guy at the meet who used to work on paint rectification at Longbridge who told me that my colour, Mirage, is a very difficult colour to match. When cars of this colour were coming down the line everyone was on high alert not to cause any damage as the likelihood of rectifying any damage was low. This also confirms a post I read on FB a while back where it was stated that every Mirage leaving the factory was slightly different depending on the skill and method used by the particular sprayer.

This info will now make me feel even more uncomfortable when parking up at Tesco! Maybe this is true for other colours not just mine.
I intend to visit a couple of body shops to find out what could be done but meanwhile would welcome any feedback from members who have experienced similar.
Thanks Tony

I've got a similar laquer peel issue on my Moonshine - the cost of paint, I've heard, is astronomical (pun intended!)

You're not kidding! Typhoon IAB is £450 per litre!
Half a litre (min order) was enough for the roof.

I'm hoping a new clear coat will save the paint. My code is IAU and I was able to buy a rattle can which was not expensive which i use with a brush for stone chips.
I suppose in a worse case scenario and the roof had to be repainted a variation in shade would be less noticeable.

My Moonstone bonnet and roof looks like someone has been ice skating on them. Be interested to know if there is an easy way to just strip the clearcoat off without damaging the underlying paint so that a new clearcoat could be applied(?). I cleared a part of the roof with compound but it would take forever to do everything.

All top surfaces on mine had clearcoat issues, as you, loads of little scratches. Bit the bullet and resprayed. 😎 Wedgwood blue btw

Hope to visit a car body shop next week, I'll feedback what they say.

Mines suffered quite badly to.
All the upward facing panels bonnet/roof/boot look like it's been painted with a yard brush..
The strange thing is though it's only visible when the sun shines on it.On a cloudy overcast day it's invisible to the eye.
I've taken my car to a number of paint specialists and after close inspection they've all said the clear coat is perfectly fine and that its the paint underneath it that's failed.
One person at a paint shop I visited just happened to work on the 75 product line back in its day said something very interesting.
He said they got alot of cars back to have paint correction due them getting damaged in transit to the showroom. The chains on the transporter trucks quite often came into contact with the top side of the cars resulting in damage. These cars were then sent back to the factory to get it sorted, and sadly not to a good standard resulting in it's failure many years later.

I was told by a bodyshop coating with lacquer doesn’t work and in fact when I owned a 75 tourer I had the roof touched up and you could see it a mile off. Apparently the base coat is affected by sunlight and starts to change as soon as the lacquer lifts and deteriorates on a daily basis and only cure is repaint the panel
