Unless the other has been changed, I would change both.

The offside bush looks like a recent change and very good quality too- like the unipart / first line ones available some time ago. I am yet to find any that look as substantial but if DMGRS are selling the only recommended bush then will be ordering this weekend....

We only sell the Original MG part - and that's simply because they're the only ones we have found that last.
You can order here: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/pre...1760-rbx101770

Already ordered
Have already ordered on Saturday.... Hoping its as good as your guarantee claims as it can be a tricksy job. The how to by the much missed MB is the way to go if anybody is thinking of doing it themselves.

Failed bush
So, had the bush purchased from DMGRS fitted and less than a year/ 10000 miles later it has failed. Drove to work last night and on arrival looked under car- the bush around the rear of the control arm is partially visible outside of the housing. Disappointing.
Does anyone have experience of Rimmers front rear bushes ( either of the Rover suitable offerings) or can anyone confirm if the powerflex bush fits the DMGRS bush housing? Thanks in advance for help or advice.... https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-RBX101772 Last edited by bigblue75; 10th September 2022 at 04:38.. |

DMGRS said in post no. 5 that they supply the MGR parts (RBX 101762 & 101772) which are the same as offered by Rimmer's in your link. I fitted these 18 months ago (obtained from X-Part) and they're fine. I don't think you should assume that the part is at fault. Fitting these is not easy whether the lower arm is removed to the bench or not. Simon

Hi Simon, the bush was replaced at the same time as the control arm by a very experienced mechanic and I am seeking opinions from anybody who has bought and fitted either of the bushes/ housings (RBX101772 and RBX101772P1) from Rimmers... I am not sure if the parts offered by DMGRS, Xpart and Rimmer Bros are from the same manufacturer / to the same spec. Should anyone know if the powerflex bush fits the DMGRS housing then please let me know as I would consider trying that.
The rubber in the bush didn't seem as substantial as some I have previously had but it seems that the only available bushes are all like this. Should anybody know of a source for the bushes with less space and more material then please let me know, likewise if anybody can confirm the bushes offered by the three companies mentioned above are the same then that would be appreciated. This bushes are made by a number of different companies, probably mostly in China, So Quality can be variable.
And they come in 2 varieties , long slot and short slot. From my experience the long slot type are weaker than the other and this is also dependant on the hardness of the rubber ,and how well they are bonded . So it's all a bit pot luck C
