Ipk diy upgrade?
Hi I have been reading into this on the forum but I have a couple of questions,
1 can I fit a mk1 75/zt dash to mk2,(I can change the led colour ok)? 2 if I change the eprom will that change the trip to the correct mileage? 3 can a generic BMW scanner enable the display? 4 if so which one, It would appear my local well advertised t4 guys don't have a full spec unit? And the guys in Exeter who do are a proper main dealer so not sure if they will play, I have retrofitted a hiline nav system will that show up in the message centre once enabled? Thanks guys Nathan |

Ipk
Contact Marinabrian or PhilT4, they will explain everything. The E-prom holds the mileage which will be transferred when the T4 does its work.

HI, thats the thing do you need a t4 to enable the display?, if the eprom swap transfers millage and the configuration of the car then i thought that was the big reason for having to use the t4?.
i know my local scrap yard had a mk1 diesel ipk as thats the car i took my sat nav from, but it did have lines in the display hence why i didnt take it, but i have since read that the display can easilly be repaired, sadly i think the car has been crushed with the display in it. Thanks Nathan |

repairing the 'lines'. I know that when my new IPK was fitted the T4 read the details and transferred them to the new e-prom (PhilT4) so I assume that if you can physically swop the e prom into the new unit it will work? As said, wait for comments from one of the gurus. Brand new Instrument packs are available for £75. (£641 from Rimmers)! |

If you are going from non message centre to message centre you need a t4.
If you are going to a used IPK with ms then you need a virgin IPK program and a t4 If you go from ms to a new ms the EEPROM swap will do. You can not transfer the program with BMW scanner as it will not copy & write to protected areas of the EEPROM Cheapest option if you have lines is to see me as if I can not remove them all I do not charge. If I can remove them all then it is only 25.00 and the drive or post.

Of course one of the Gurus may know a way around this, as they do with so many things nowadays. |

Your reverse camera displays through your hi line double din head unit? Most IPK's are the same exempt for led colour, dial design, and program / reverse sensor capability. The exception is the v8 unit which is a diffetent story. I have converted facelift petrols onto mk 1 diesels and back again.
