Default Ipk diy upgrade?

Hi I have been reading into this on the forum but I have a couple of questions,

1 can I fit a mk1 75/zt dash to mk2,(I can change the led colour ok)?

2 if I change the eprom will that change the trip to the correct mileage?

3 can a generic BMW scanner enable the display?

4 if so which one,

It would appear my local well advertised t4 guys don't have a full spec unit? And the guys in Exeter who do are a proper main dealer so not sure if they will play, I have retrofitted a hiline nav system will that show up in the message centre once enabled?

Thanks guys

Nathan

Default Ipk

Contact Marinabrian or PhilT4, they will explain everything. The E-prom holds the mileage which will be transferred when the T4 does its work.

Yes and you can buy IPK's with the led's you want (blue white or amber)
You need to get one with the correct dial backgrounds for your car, RPM & MPH
You will also need one which is reverse sounder capable if you have or intend to get them (Prefix YAC00****)

2 if I change the eprom will that change the trip to the correct mileage?
Not if you are upgrading from non MS to MS (Message centre), you will need a virgin program for your car type and a T-4 install

3 can a generic BMW scanner enable the display?
no, they can not access the protected areas of the EEPROM

4 if so which one,

Please see the comments to your questions above...
I will be happy to he with any customisations you may need but I do not have a T-4, MarinaBrian, Phil-T4 or BigRuss re your best bet there.

HI, thats the thing do you need a t4 to enable the display?, if the eprom swap transfers millage and the configuration of the car then i thought that was the big reason for having to use the t4?.

i know my local scrap yard had a mk1 diesel ipk as thats the car i took my sat nav from, but it did have lines in the display hence why i didnt take it, but i have since read that the display can easilly be repaired, sadly i think the car has been crushed with the display in it.

Thanks
Nathan

I don't know about 'easily repaired' but KLARZY says he is pretty good at
repairing the 'lines'.
I know that when my new IPK was fitted the T4 read the details and transferred them to the new e-prom (PhilT4) so I assume that if you can physically swop the e prom into the new unit it will work? As said, wait for comments from one of the gurus. Brand new Instrument packs are available for £75. (£641 from Rimmers)!

If you are going from non message centre to message centre you need a t4.
If you are going to a used IPK with ms then you need a virgin IPK program and a t4

If you go from ms to a new ms the EEPROM swap will do.

You can not transfer the program with BMW scanner as it will not copy & write to protected areas of the EEPROM

Cheapest option if you have lines is to see me as if I can not remove them all I do not charge.
If I can remove them all then it is only 25.00 and the drive or post.

If the car has PDC reversing sensors then I don't think you can, as the sounder is mounted into the rear parcel shelf on the earlier cars, and built in to the IPK on the later cars.

Of course one of the Gurus may know a way around this, as they do with so many things nowadays.

If you buy an IPK with the prefix YAC00**** it should be sounder compatible.. (Al-a Brian)

my car has aftermarket sensors fitted along with reverse camera on the board monitor.

so is it more sense to buy a new ipk or get one virginised?.
are mk2 diesel zt ipk's availible?

will the message center ipk display my sat nav info?,

sorry for loads of questions

Do the after market sensors sound from the speedo cluster (IPK) or somwhete else ?
Your reverse camera displays through your hi line double din head unit?

Most IPK's are the same exempt for led colour, dial design, and program / reverse sensor capability.

The exception is the v8 unit which is a diffetent story.

I have converted facelift petrols onto mk 1 diesels and back again.
