Keith, which nokia have you got? 6822 is rather old. would it be a 6288? model under battery. Am thinking if you do have a 6288(black slider) its a 3g phone. It will hold onto a very poor 3g signal even if you've got a good 2g. So its a good idea to turn your 3g off in network settings. that way it will only look for 2g. Better batt life too..

I agree the 6310 was one of the best. Funny enough I've got lots of guys in the same boat, whether data centres or military offices..
forget the 3g thing, 6822 is 2g only. And was one of the better platform 40 nokias for signal.. Will have to live with standing one legged on a chair waving an arm around your head for time being... if i think of anything i'll put it hrer...er,,,here!

It just occurred to me that a device called a "passive repeater" might be of help to you (I think that is the correct name for it!). I came across this many moonsago while testing UHF walkie talkies. The basic idea is you connect 2 antenna together using as length of high grade cable. Place one antenna outside the building on a high point and the other inside - possibly in the room you use most. The principle is that the each antenna will pick up the signal from your phone/mast and relay it to the other end. While the signal gains will be tiny, it does actually work to a degree - I know because I tried it  Might be worth a try. If you want any further info I'll try and be of help, although its been a while since I tried this!
