What's considered to be a high mileage engine (CDTI)
This is just thinking about the engine - as a guideline, at what sort of mileage would you consider a CDTI to be in danger of serious problems and not worth buying?
Mine's done 100000, which sounds like quite a bit to me, but then I've seen them on eBay with 175 or more so 100 is probably only just run in. Has anyone ever run one high enough to start wearing out cams, rings and bottom end? Just a vague pondering question, not because I'm thinking of buying a galactic mileage one! |

I think properly and routinely serviced and well looked after - you should see one of these engines hitting 200k quite easily. List of members who own diesels mileages... (threads have been merged) so the list may be a little way in... http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...t=high+mileage Edit: List located at post 52.

100k - just nicely loosening up for a diesel, then they start to get better
Diesels tend to last much longer than petrols, as do the exhausts too.

Those replies give me confidence! Depending on where I'm working (contracting) I might do 35k a year, so it's going to be some time before I'll have to worry about it!
It has full service history so far, so it's looking good. Thanks |
