Mitsubishi motors investigated for illegal cheat devices.
Blimey! another dieselgate.
"The authorities are looking at Mitsubishi’s 1.6-liter and 2.2-liter 4-cylinder Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel engines and are asking drivers who acquired cars with the engines since 2014 to contact police." "Police and prosecutors on Tuesday raided 10 sites across Germany. Premises have been searched in Frankfurt, Hanover and Regensburg in Germany as part of the probe, the Frankfurt prosecutor's office said." https://europe.autonews.com/automake...defeat-devices

This isn't the first time Mitsubishi has hit the news because of an emissions fiddle. The company isn't in good shape anyway, hence why it's part of the Nissan / Renault Alliance now.

Hold the front page.
Shock, horror, multinational massive business involved in possible iffy activities. As you may have guessed I'm not in the least bit surprised. I'm actually more surprised that there haven't been more businesses put under the spotlight and not just for fiddling a few mpg on some tests. Andy. |

Personally I reckon most of them have been at it at some time. Car electronics are clever pieces of kit and with the amount of control they have over the engine it would not take much to get the car in ''MOT mode'' without anybody ever noticing. The ones that get caught are the ones that have done it on the cheap is my theory.
Think about it, if you are stationary and revving the engine what else are you doing? Apart from showing off to your mates why else would you be revving the engine. One of the reasons VW got caught is because they just switched the EGR off until the car was stationary and in Neutral. Of course they were seizing up through lack of use so the cars were starting to fail. There fix was to program the EGR to work as it should so cutting emissions and fuel economy and power in some cases. |

The plot thickens! PSA Group said today it does not know if the 1.6-liter diesel engines it supplied to Mitsubishi Motors between 2015 and 2018 are part of a probe in Germany.
