Had a problem again with cd player, this time stuck on cd3 and not playing. Magazine would not come out.Took it apart and could see a cd stuck in there but no way of getting it out, moved the big cog a bit, plugged it back in and it's working again! Once again the magazine will come out.

I had the same problem recently Martin. There was something about a particular CD which caused it to stop working and do nothing. I managed to extract the disc by "helping" the mechanism to return it to the magazine, then it would eject. Trying that disc in another position in the magazine resulted in the fault occuring there! After replacing the disc with something completely different, the changer worked normally; very strange.

Followed this How To today and fixed my CD changer. Took about 2 hours going very carefully. Sure enough, the worm gear and straight gear weren't properly engaged:
