Default Alternator heat shield

The alternator heat shield on my 2004 1.8 manual is beginning to split around the top mounting bracket where it is pop-riveted to the aluminium. As far as I can see though, the shield can't be removed without removing the aircon compressor and maybe the alternator too.

Does anyone know a clever way of replacing it without taking the accessories off the front of the engine?
