At my local garage if the number plates are wrong they ask the customer if they got the right ones and get them to put them on for the mot and then take a picture of it they are not bothered after mot if they get caught out they can prove at time they were right because they can be done or be inspected by the mot people to see if they are doing them right if not they have to go back on a course to pass again or stop doing mot

Thanks for your very detailed (How Too) Brian very informative but just one problem, as a 78year old engineer I have never been beaten by a job on my car but this one had me and my Son in law well and truly beaten! Just couldn’t get the bolt undone work on it all Saturday & Sunday still no nearer getting them off. Thought NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- this for a game of soldiers, went along to my local independent Garage and asked for a price to do the job using the bushes I supplied he said it’s a question of brute strength to get them off and said he would do it for £120:00 so I left the car with him on Monday at 9:00am and waited all day for a phone call, didn’t know what Time he closed so I walked up to the Garage at 17:30 and the poor mechanic was still working on it he said “What a horrible NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- job it was” and “I’m not surprised there are not a lot of 75s on the road anymore”! He phone me next day at 10:30 saying they had finally fixed it. I must say that you don’t realise it but the steering is much more positive with the new bushes and the car has now passed its MOT! Thanks again for your help.

Should have been much easier on a 2 or 4 poster but yes, a pain in the bum to do. I'm approaching 70 and have done both my 75's, on drive up ramps, in the last five years using Brian's method (Thanks Brian).
