Why oh why were the petrol engine ECU's waterproofed and sealed and the diesel ECU's were not - any ideas ?

Well the answer is the diesel ECM's have an ambient pressure sensor so can't be sealed, but why oh why did they put them in a plastic bucket in a place that could easily get flooded? At least they knew what they were doing at Land Rover with the Freelander TD4. |

Hi Martin. If you have had the drain tubes removed completely expect trouble because there is double skin in the plenum area, by removing the drain tube you have now allowed water to get between those two skins. If the car did not need the drain plugs Rover would have left them to save costs don't you worry about that. All that is needed is to cut then off by about 15mm job done and then add inner wing protection, use fish tank gauze each side
