Default Shock Horror, Rover and MG ZT V6's all fall in Top Tax Disc Band

Perhaps time to get a Diesel....

Shock Horror, Rover and MG ZT V6's nearly all fall in Top Tax Disc Band after 1st March 2001 registration. Except for models registered for models registered for 4 months in 2002, most strange that one, see below.
Rover 75 Saloon (99-05)
2.5 V6

Rates effective from 13 March 2008
Date of Registration...........6 Months.....12 Months.....Band....CO2 (g/km)
1 Feb 1999 – 1 Mar 2001........£101.75........£185.00
1 Mar 2001 – 9 Feb 2004........£115.50........£210.00..........F.......225-235

Rates effective from April 2009
Date of Registration...........6 Months.....12 Months.....Band....CO2 (g/km)
1 Feb 1999 – 1 Mar 2001.........£101.75.......£185.00
1 Mar 2001 – 9 Feb 2004.........£165.00.......£300.00...........K.......225-235
Rates effective from April 2010
Date of Registration...........6 Months......12 Months....Band....CO2 (g/km)
1 Feb 1999 – 1 Mar 2001........£110.00........£200.00
1 Mar 2001 – 2 Jan 2002........£236.50.........£430.00...........L.......235
2 Jan 2002 – 13 May 2002......£170.50.........£310.00...........K.......225
13 May 2002 – 9 Feb 2005......£236.50.........£430.00...........L.......229

So Check your Reghistration document to see your CO2 (g/km) figure if a 2002 registration and pray you can save £100.00 PA

Jamie the Ford Mondeo 2.5 and 3 Litre V6 up to 2006 registration falls in same Tax Bracket,
The Vectra V6 is in Top Tax Bracket to but with a higher emissions figure.
The Jaguar S-Type (99-08) 2.5 V6 4d is also in top Tax Bracket.
The Jaguar X-Type Saloon (01 on) 2.5 V6 is also in Top Tax Bracket.

Question Confused dot com!

Where did you get those figures from John? Just checked the Government website and couldn't find any information relevant to any newer charges.
Has the rates for tax discs bought after 13th March 2008, and as mine was registered before 23rd March '06 I paid £210 2 weeks ago.

Can't see where it says I'm gonna be forking out double that next year.

its not just the 75 and ZT then....the rises are going to knock the value of all larger engined cars, just been reading the thread on Black olive....its a crying shame such a lovely car isnt selling....but I can see why given the hike in road tax and then to add insult to injury... they have wacked up fuel prices too.

It even cost me £22 to fill up the motorbike on sunday...ouch.

Those figures have been available since the budget.Threads on here somewhere
They weren't publicised at all well and were slipped through without many owners noticing.
I suspect many more big engined owners won't realise what is happening until they go to the Post Office next April to buy a Tax disc.

Makes the VED rates on the 260 relatively good then!
Might as well get the most powerful car you can within the same bracket as the V6.

Even running diesels won't be cheap by April next year, Mr Brown and the Arabs will see to that.
Car sharing to work & Bicycle sales are booming this month.

Its strange some models aren't on Government site yet all on their own Disc.
The SVR for example was missing.
Even some "Trims made a Difference" and Autos of course push up figures higher.
Some makers have dropped the Output of models by a few BHP to just get under the CO2 band thus making it harder for owners to work things out of newer variants.
Even some Focus models are in Top Tax Bracket and small cars are no escape either for some small 1.4 engined cars.

On the tube the other day reading the Metro and an article was saying that it was being considered not backdating it to 2001 vehicles and just starting with new vehicles after the implementation date. A light at the end of the tunnel? or just another train coming??
