Steve, is there some later instructions as fitted the first strut but the spring is long have to compress it to get the bottom clip screwed back on and quickly tried that but it won't even shut.

Almost like the spacer is not needed...

Have I missed an updated fitting instruction ?

Ash

Hi Ash,
No updated fitting instructions. Just the same. The spring length has increased by 20mm since the instructions were made, but the procedure is just the same. I have that length spring fitted to mine and others have too. Can you do me a favour and watch the springs as you slowly close the boot, and see if the coils touch each other before the boot is closed. The coils should just touch with the boot closed.
Let me know what you find please.

Hi Steve...

THe boot won't close goes about 2/3 way down before the spring is fully compressed.
When the spring is attached is it right you have to compress the spring to get the bottom clip screwed back on ? I have took it back off again for now.

IF I get chance I will try it again its almost like it does want the spacer.

Ash

Strange. Can you please measure the length of the springs, and also the length of your gas struts with the end clips on.
The springs need compressing by about 5mm to get the bottom clip on usually.
Pity you're not just down the road, otherwise I would pop and have a look.

Default springs

Will have a look and check I will put it back on when the weather stops raining and put a quick vid if it helps its probably me but went through it all and can't see anything wrong after following the vid several times its all straight forward.

When I put the spring on the end of the bottom thread is level or just short of the end of the spring and its more like 10mm compress to get the washer and and screwed on.

Just doesn't want to shut when its fitted, tried to see if any fouling going on but nothing.

Will get there...

Hi Steve,

Just to let you know, I still didn't received the replacement kit.

If you say you sent the kit out last Friday (one week ago), I think something went wrong "again" :-(

I hope you can trace it somehow.

Regards,
Henry

Henry, the replacement kit was sent 2 weeks ago today. I'll see what the post office say over here, but I may have to just give you a refund, as I can't afford to keep sending replacements out.
Out of more than 120 kits sold, I have only had this problem twice.
Leave it with me and I'll see what I can find out.
