Enjoyed the 1st episode especially as I used to drive the original of the car he's bringing back, as a taxi in the distant past.

The Morris Oxford
Did it make for a good Taxi?
Obviously they seem to think so in India

Good solid car that has panels and bumpers that can be bashed out. Ideal for india. They appear to have fitted single point fuel injection to the ones i saw. Quite a high ride to deal with bumpy roads too.
Cramped and a terrible ride.
Very littke luggage space.
It wont take off here

In it's time, Yes, column change, bench seats front & rear. 6 seats total.
Used to work the docks (seamen) and Isle of Wight ferries and don't recall ever having a problem with luggage space.

By today's standards slow and not very good economy, but in 1960 things were different. Also drove a Ford Consul 375 and Austin A95 Westminster (pre BMC) all 6 seats and both larger cars, even so the Oxford held it's own.
