Today I have fixed a coolant leak, I have replaced the coolant outlet elbow at the front of the cylinder head. Got the part ages ago when I worked at BMW (BMW part is cheaper than genuine MGR/LR) and I have fixed an OBD2 issue I had.

Finally started on my project, it's only been waiting nearly 4 years! Although she's up on axle stands with the front off, she did look embarrassingly neglected. So got the wash stuff out and gave her a damn good seeing to! Looking much better now
Shame it's not going anywhere.

Lots done today..
I started my day polishing Cortina stuff, I then set up a small tank to reverse electrolysis the rust off some 75 brake calipers, I don't know why as I have new ones, I'm just bored.

All started when the ABS light came on and stayed on, oh here we go again, oh bother said I . A quick text to Jamie confirmed my thoughts it might be a sensor. Started on the offside that's when I noticed the discs were shot. I'll tell you the full story when I see you, hopefully at a Nano meet or social night, won't be for another three weeks or more yet though Martyn |

Well I did all that yesterday. So today while everything off, anti roll bar, drop links etc, I decided to wire brush all the surface rust off the subframe, upper and lower arms, anti roll bar.
As it was only 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 rust wise i was quite happy to hoover off all the dust, wipe down all surfaces and apply a healthy coat of hammered black Hammerite to everything I could reach which was about 95 percent of the ensemble. Only the top facing the body underside couldn’t be got at, but then again this seems to always be the best condition surface as it doesn’t get peppered with grit and road detritus. So now it all looks wonderful,,, reassembly will commence tomorrow. New springs, new drop links. Next replace the shockingly installed front to rear break pipes!

Picked up silver saloon from trusty mechanic having had the rear lower and upper arms replaced.
Great to be able to drive round corners again...🙄 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
