I fixed a thing
So, when the window fitter fitted a new side window a couple of years ago, & then broke the chrome surround on the indoor handle, & not telling me I finally fixed it using the self tap screw method I discovered the other day
I had to prise the chrome ring away as he'd glued it to the panel, then removed the screw & eased out the handle. Drilled & fitted 2 self tappers, one in the top, one underneath, & refitted the assembly. Works great One happy bunny One thing, when taking off the ring, there was a noise like all the catches unlocking/ locking Had a look around, couldn't see anything so carried on. Turns out, as I was pulling the handle, my finger was resting on the n/side rear window switch, & I'd opened it |

I quite like the look of that repair Ronnie, I might have to start saving all the broken handles now instead of chucking them!

Hi Ronnie,
Any chance of a link, or a picture? Can't picture this fix - sure I it will be obvious when I see it. Thanks Chris

I'm still not convinced of this method. I can envisage any excess stress will either crack the backing or lead to the complete handle being pulled out of the card. Though in saying that, your picture shows it better, and always my fear of the cracking a little. My mother is quite hard on them. I've had to replace three in her clio and repair mine twice with her pulling too hard. The clios are one piece moulded ones, held in with a single screw bolt in the middle like ours are. Hers crack at this screw.

If the heavy handedness didn't continue, glue would be sufficient. Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk

Glued mine on drivers door 4/5 times with super glue and other types. Still came off. Tried Gorilla Glue six months ago, and still in place.

IF it comes off again, try an old soldering iron tip, melting in a bit cable tie.
