KV6 Thermostats
So many threads on these at the moment, all failing to get up to temp. So, don't shout at me but:
As the diesel stat fails to perform it is accepted that you can install an inline stat in the system with good results, leaving the old stat in place and from what I can see, no downsides. So, why cannot the same be achieved on the KV6, the top hose from the rad is super accessible. Discuss?...

Think the point people are making is that the new thermostats aren’t doing their job properly. Sure an in-line second thermostat would probably work but surely it must be better for DMGRS / Xpart to get onto their suppliers, tell them people aren’t satisfied, and get back to the original specifications.
My own KV6 is constant at 95 deg. and I’ve a spare used one in the attic. I won’t be buying a new one anytime soon unless … Xpart / DMGRS soon got the word that buyers were avoiding the Indian upper arms, Mats has even got his new ones, I doubt he’s got any regrets that he listened to buyers. Keep well |

Totally agree Mike, I changed mine around 2yr ago as it had become sluggish and ran low 80's. Purchased genuine Xpart ( whatever that means ) and back to running mid 90's. I can just see this becoming a like it or lump it reply from suppliers. You know what I'm like for thinking outside the box

We have seen a few not getting up to temperature lately - and it's something we're looking into at the moment. Disappointing as our latest batch are made by an OE supplier!
We're trialling a new supplier shortly, and I'll be taking a few apart to check internal build quality etc (given the KV6 thermostat's reputation for being weak). Watch this space, and in the meantime anyone with a duffer is of course welcome to get in touch

Went through 3 thermostats on my V6 they all run cold the first 2 at the car was rarely going above 84C° and especially the second which would drop at 78-79 on the motorway. The 3rd one which was orginal from rimmers ran at 85-87. I then replaced my engine with low mileage one and I kept the thermostat that was on it I dont know if its orgial but it deffo had been there a minute and it runs spot on 95-97.

Anyone know what the Freelande1 V6 runs at, i know the stat housing is a little different in the outlets from the housing a little longer or larger cant remember, but are they having the same problem, if not why cant manufacturers add a different stat at start of the making of the product.

I have a theory… When being assembled, the stat is placed into the base of the plastic housing, the top is then welded on. I think the stats vary throughout the production, from the outside, the plastic housing looks the same but the internals would be different. Theory based on 30+ years of working with automotive plastics.. I have seen first hand what gets used!
