Not sure about satellite but how is the 4g signal round your way? You might be able to get a good deal with a dongle, you've probably already thought of that though

I've got a customer that has satellite internet and whilst it's reasonable for general surfing, but due to the time sending/receiving signals up and back, trying to use youtube/skype etc., is nearly impossible.
Depending on where you are in Norfolk, look at wireless internet. There are quite a lot of companies now offering it. From memory, they use church towers etc., for the aerials.

Andy, have you tried contacting BT to report a fault?
It may be due to dry joint or something. They will carry out an automatic test and can often detect such problems. I assume your telephone delivery is on overhead lines. Mine is and I get 8Mbit/s on the copper line and 37 - 42 Mbit/s on infinity 2. Our overhead line is about 300m from the cabinet. Try BT first to see if they can identify a fault. |

LOL I should shut my pie hole! That's a rubbish internet speed Andy. we've been having trouble with our Virgin broadband for a few weeks, after seeing your low figures I thought I'll do a speed test. Ours is always 105Mbs download & 6.19Mbs upload. this is today's I've taken a screenshot & will be emailing it to see WTH's going on.

Shouldn't be an issue as the wireless uses a different frequency.

Yes I have used satellite for internet. £50.00 per month for 8mb down 1mb up, it's fine for ordinary surfing but the latency means you will not be able to play games online with it. On the positive side there is no ISP throttling and support is UK based (but only Mon to Sat 9-5)
I now have fibre to cabinet and it comes in at 24mb down and 1.2 mb up, still costs about £40 per month. My exchange is 950 metres away and the nearest cabinet adds about 300 metres to that, the signal is 80mb at the cabinet so the drop in speed is due to the cable run from the cab to my house.
