Default Heated seat switch wires/diagram

Hi all,

I'm running into some problems and I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me.

I have the heated front screen from batch 1 in my R75. In the past I wired it up in a quick and not so pretty way. A few months ago I removed all the wires and started again to do a proper and tidy job.

How it basically works (or should work):

In the cabine is the Heated Seat Switch, which has 4 wires, black (mass), red/white (illumination), orange/white (??) and yellow (??)

In the engine compartiment I have 2 relays that switch the power to the 2 parts of the heated screen.
I used to use a hidden switch to switch the relays, and turn on the heated screens. But if I would forget the switch, the heated element would remain on. Also, the switch was hidden because it wasn't looking very nice.

The heated seat switch has a timer, although I haven't forgotten it yet, it looks nicer and is a safer option.

So here I am... I have 2 wires standing by:
1. a switch 12v feed
2. a long wire that runs to the relays

If I connect 1 and 2 by hand, the relay switch on. And the heated screen warms up. So I thought if I connect wire 1 to the orange/white wire of the heated seat switch in the console, and then connect wire 2 to the thick yellow wire, I could turn on/off the heated screen, and it would turn of automatically after a few minutes (in case I would forget).

But.... it doesn't work.

Wire 1 shows 12v (between the mass of the button, and the orange/white wire of the button).
Wire 2 shows 0v, regardless of pressing the button or not....

The green light in the switch glows, and the backlight goes on/off when turnong on/off the headlights. No fuses are blown and I have already tested the relays (they work). Also tried with or without engine running.
I also tried 3 different heated seat buttons, so I'd imagine that at least 1 would work...

Connecting wire 1 and 2 directly switches on the heated screen. Connecting these wires to the button, doesn't do anything.

I'm at a loss...

Black - Earth
Red/White - Illumination
Orange/White - Ignition Feed
Yellow - Output

With the switch 'On', the Yellow cable is connected to Earth (not 12v).
