Default 92C opening temperature thermostat

I thought that I would post this for anyone still looking for a thermostat with an
opening temperature of 92C, last year I bought a remote thermostat kit from a
company called Specialist components. This arrived with an 88C thermostat,at
the time I was far too busy to fit the kit.I have now discovered that Specialist
components are now selling a remote thermostat repair kit on their web site,
this web site offers thermostats with a range of opening temperatures.
One of the temperatures on offer is 92C,so I have sent for a 92C thermostat.
I am hoping this will raise the operating temperature of the cooling system to
a reasonable level, will keep you posted. A.T.B. Bill

That's interesting Bill, I'm assuming it's the same dimensions as the Renault 5 one. With my 88 degree stat temperature rarely hits 92, cycling between 88 and 90.

I honestly doubt it will alter the results. Apart from the diesel's low heat dissipation, a primary factor in disappointing running temperatures (using the in-line system) is coolant leakage past the closed valve. A water tight 88C works very well.

There's a lengthy thread discussing it here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=234465

Be sure to come back with the results. The more data we have the better.

Remote thermostat: https://cse.google.co.uk/cse?hl=en&c...e%20thermostat

AKA the in-line thermostat for diesels or the PRT (Pressure Relief Thermostat) in later 1.8s.

Makes no difference really.

My OE replaced 88 DegC thermostat opens at 92/93.... nothing has changed apart from the digit on the screen.
