No you are not.... sort of.... there was more than one mission.

Have a read here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Black_Buck

It was one of the later missions that diverted

Have read the book also.
The bravery and skill of all the crews involved is an example to one and all

I'm truely in awe of what those crews achieved and the planning that went into the mission.

I didn't realize that the Vulcan by the perimeter fence at Waddington is the very same one that flew the mission.I will see it in a whole new light next time I visit

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

607 is very visible on GoogleEarth and in the Streets view going past Waddington.

I was working down at RAF Waddington along side the runway, when the Vulcans were still operational - mighty impressive those Vulcans taking off.

I have the video, 'Waddington Vulcans'

I've only known one aircraft shake the ground more than the Vulcan, the Rockwell B1.

Thanks for the heads up on the programme.
The courage and determination these guys had. Amazing.

There is a Vulcan XM612 a stones thow from where I was brought up. I will always remember its last fly by in Jan 1983 before it was retired to the Norwich Aviation Museum. The thrust of those engines....
Heres some more info and a pic http://www.cnam.co.uk/aircraft/index.php
