Default MAF sensor

To preface this; I'm a very big novice when it comes to cars. I've never really done any real work on them, and if i did, i'd likely either break something or make it worse.

Anyways, it's probably rather basic to you guys, but what i presume is the issue caused by the MAF sensor is causing slight issues again.

The usual loss of power until 2500rpm or so.

I just wanted to know exactly where the MAF sensor is situated, and if unplugging it really is as simple as unplugging it, or whether it needs to be done in a certain way or with certain tools.

Thanks.

Hi Walter.
You will need to remove the air filter cover to get to the MAF sensor, tools you will need is a 5mm Allen key or socket with long extension with 5mm allen bit.

There are five captive bolts three along the top & two at the back corners, once once removed you can unplug the MAF and replace the air filter cover.

You could always do this mod to the air filter cover to gain access to the MAF at al times without removing the air filter cover.

I had the same symptoms so I bought a genuine bosch one, fitted it and to my surprise there was a slight and I mean a slight improvement.
A t4 session confirmed it was faulty so I had my money back, put the old one back in but left it disconnected.
The car performs very well indeed and the only downside is a slight increase in fuel consumption.
I will at some stage get another genuine bosch maf and try again.
