Using an EU to UK plug adapter with smart battery charger?
Hi all, technology question so I thought I would ask here as there as bound to be knowledgeable folk who can advise.
I have a smart battery charger with a EU 2-pin plug. Is it OK to use with a standard EU-to-UK plug adapter, and to leave plugged in unattended for extended periods of time like that? I emailed the manufacturer, but as they haven't tested this they couldn't advise. Any help appreciated, thanks

As long as the adapter is a good make in good condition with good contacts there should be no problem. If the contacts are loose/wobbly/suspect in any way, then I would just cut off the unwanted connector and wire in a UK plug.

Actually not much point in changing the plug as the charger lead has only two wires.---No earth connection needed.---

Changing the plug unfortunately isn't an option as the charger has a 5 year warranty. I was wondering what the difference is r.e. what the third pin connects to inside the charger.

The third pin would be for the earth connection. As the charger is probably in an enclosed plastic case it’s not really necessary.

The EU/UK plug adaptor will make no difference to the operation of the charger. If it's a "smart" charger, by definition it will be safe to leave it connected for extended periods of time. I hope this helps. Simon
