KV6 plugs?
Has anyone fitted Denso U-Groove K16PR-U11 plugs (supplied by DMGRS) to their V6? If so, any comments on performance?
I don't want to fit these if they're likely to cause problems. AFAIK Rover specified NLP100290 plugs for these cars, which were/are platinum tipped. My girl is a 2005 2.5 model BTW. |

get some irridium plugs , they will run for 100,000km before needing changing.
Given the rear bank of 3 are a PIA to get out, worth doing. |

We've supplied around 8,000 of these plugs so far - and no reported issues.
The more frequent change interval is part of our plan with these; I've done a couple of K Series and KV6 changes where the plugs were extremely tight (one needed a helicoil) due to being fitted for a long period of time. We supply them to a few of the MG-R based motorsport teams - no issues reported, and there's a lot of highly strung engines in and amongst them (a lot of K Series 1.8T, a supercharged ZS etc). Apart from the platinum tip, our plugs are identical to the originals. We went with these for the good reason above, and not because of price. I've also run them in every K Series and KV6 car I've owned over the last 5 years - no issues to report and the KV6 ZS I had them fitted to made 195.5BHP on the dyno with a light remap.

I bought 7 MG/Rover genuine plugs for £25 on ebay. Tackled the job over the weekend. Front bank a cinch. Rear bank a bloomin' nightmare. Arms bruised and cut but all new plugs and coils fitted. Have to agree with some posts that it's good to remove the plastic scuttle/wipers etc to allow easier access. Don't try to remove electrics from coils - undo 8mm nut and remove coils and connectors combined - then connectors are easy to remove.
Result = Smoother running. Misfire gone. Nice, regular idle. |
