Exclamation EGR disabling and Fault registring

Hi,

I am curious as to whether the ECU registers and stores a fault code, if the EGR valve is disabled or if it is replaced by a bypass tube, does any one know.
If so, does the ECU set the MAF signal into a default mode that will then limit or at least reduce the power output of the engine somehow.
Finally does Testbook be used to check?.

I beleive it does register a code but doesnt raise the engine light. Unlike my Siemens HDi which raises engine light when either plug OR a vacuum pipe is disconnected...grrrr)

Default EGR Bypass

I fitted an EGR Bypass a few months ago and no faults have come up on T4 since.

I disabled my EGR Valve a few months ago. I since fitted Ron's Synergy 2 and PB MAF. There is talk on the other site of the EGR bypas/disalbing causing the car's computer to reduce the power due to incorrect running. If that's the case then it is something I have not yet experienced. I have felt no detrimental effects since disabling my EGR.

I have seen "airflow too high" a couple of times on my T4
once due to a faulty mafam and once cause unknown but I have not worked on enough cars with the bypass to draw any conclusions

I am hoping Rob on org will quantify his comments about the ecu behaviour.

If there is any chance of that happening I will be going back to standard EGR as I realy have not noticed any improvement with the bypass fitted

I was just about to work on a DIY bypass but as it would mean demolishing the valve with various grinders and cutters, I am now a bit dubious as to whether I should or not at least until there is some concrete evidence available.

Hmmm....put it like this. After roughly 15000 miles with the EGR bypass I have had no problems....equally, anyone who has been in my 75 will testify that 'reduced power' is an alien phrase to dear old Emily...sooner or later I will get her on a T4 and I will let you know...

I must admit I am driving an auto with one fitted and by comparison to my saloon is pretty slow so the EGR bypass may be doing something!

Just been looking at the threads regarding ecu and egr...I just can't see it as there are no sensors in the egr saying if the egr is operating or otherwise...at the very least, it is one less thing to get clogged up and have to clean...
