Newbie help - Alarm problem and fuse 45
Hi,
I'm having a b*gger of an intermittent alarm sounding problem on my new 2004 CDTi Connie. I've searched through loads of posts on the problem and tried the main suggestions... The initial fault was definitely with the bonnet switch/connector as the door open light flickered when the switch was wiggled. I've ordered a replacement but in the interim I put a shorting link in the connector to show a permanent bonnet open signal. This seemed to fix the problem, however tonight (very cold weather?) the alarm started sounding again. I wondered if it was a boot switch problem as I had tried to open the boot earlier this evening but it was frozen and I was getting machine-gunning when remote unlocking. I eventually got it open when the temperature picked up and did the recommended adjustment to the rubber stops which fixed the machine-gunning but the alarm went off again after half an hour. So a few questions; 1) Will removing fuse 45 silence the alarm sounder? (I've tried removing it and the horn no longer beeps when remote locking but I wasn't sure if the alarm activated the sounder via a different route). 2) Where is the boot switch located? 3) Could the shorted bonnet switch connector still show as intermittent? 4) Does anyone have any other suggestions as to fixes? Cheers Andy
