i changed the stat on my wifes diesel but only cos the water pump collapsed and the stat bolts onto the pump. if i remember correctly you cant change the stat with the pump in situ. i had the use of a garage workshop and found worst part was the metal pipe that goes round the back of the head and bolts onto the housing. had to bend it out of the way and bend it back again. not a job i would try outside my house, wouldnt want to do one again, sorry.

I think the job albeit a tricky and tight to do it is possible to beat the book, roll on the next one......
