Back again!
Hi all I'm back in an MG ZT although a lot less thirstier than my last V6 I now have a CDTi version which I bought from Championdaddy via ebay. So far other than a few age related problems it goes like a dream forgot how good these cars are on the motorway! It has broke down once but it was teh diesel fuel pump in the tank a pipe come away which was sorted at the road side by the RAC (bought a new pump whilst waiting for the RAC but as its ok gonna keep it in the boot just incase!) Its got 143000 miles on it but does go and run like a car with less than half that! No smoke at all even when high up the revs, pulls the caravan like a dream! Already changed the head unit, cleaned out the washer bottle filter as it was blocked, fitted the auto boot opening springs thing which were supplied with the car got a spare set of alloys from suzublu after I had a blow out on the M1 and had to drive 250 miles on a space saver! Not fun! so now have a full size spare and two rims to be fitted with winter tyres. ALso got a stone chip in the windscreen from a truck! Been a troublsome week of ownership but it 10 years old at the end of the day and I love it already! Cavalier will be finding a new home tomorrow!
I also own as a family car a Seat Leon TDi which is modded a bit, also a 1999 Kawasaki 600 Ninja ZXR and a Honda BlackBird. Heres the outgoing car And the only pic I have of the ZT Needs a good polish! But happy with it!

Cavalier was probably the best Vauxhall made. Simple but strong, drove well and cruised effortlessly.
Just hideously uncomfortable - I always had terrible backache after 2 hours. |

Champion daddy said he cleaned them before I bought it off him, I'll look into getting the guard though. The cavalier was an awesome car just keeps going and costs very little to maintain! It's the Isuzu td engine so runs on veg oil with no mods only ran it on veg a few times and smells like chips when you stop! Agree with the uncomfortable thing but that's just because the seats are awful! I'm gonna miss it but 80bhp is no longer enough due to the caravan! Luckily the bike gives me my speed thrills now!

Hi David, Read your thread re Vauxhall Cavalier, Rosebud had one many moons ago, it was her company car (Trust House Forte). Her male colleagues at the time were very envious . She had the SRi version with Recaro seats. Unfortunateley it was written off outside our home in Gozo, Malta. She bought it for a pittance when she retired after 23 yrs with the Company in 1986. As you know, ever the same . Roy & Rosebud. (Old Man and frail Old Lady). Take good care of each other. |

Just an update with current pics after I cleaned it yesterday, I fitted some winter tyres to it too. Had some problems lately none starting so I have replaced the under bonnet fuel pump (Very easy to do) and the intank pump which was fiddly and made more difficult by the new one having a conector on the pipe snapped so had to leave part of the old pump in the tank and take the connector pipe off which was very hard and connect it to the new pump now I have a sound I have never heard before and that is of two working pumps!
Also shortened one of the coolant pipes which seemed ridiculously long and winding! Some pics. Next job hopefully tomorrow will be the glow plugs, got the new manifold seals for just over £12 plus delivery then hopefully I'll have years of trouble free motoring!
