Make sure you replace this item.
Crucial on a diesel if you don't want to loose all the oil through the dipstick.
Worse still, blow the turbo seals (plumes of exhaust smoke!)

Just messaged championdaddy who I got the car off he said he had replaced 5 filters but doesn't say which ones. Wouldn't start again today so I've replace the crank and cam sensors seems to be running better if nothing else! Haven't had time to do the glow plugs because of this further hick up!

Also shortened one of the coolant pipes which seemed ridiculously long and winding!
Some pics.

Next job hopefully tomorrow will be the glow plugs, got the new manifold seals for just over £12 plus delivery then hopefully I'll have years of trouble free motoring!
Hi there, what winter tyres did you put on? My ZT has very little grip in the wet ( or maybe I drive it faster than my last car) but I'm hoping winter tyres may help

Jules the PCV filter has been done championdaddy bought all the parts from yourself.
At the moment it has 235/40/18 Nankangs on, not my first choice as I generally don't like Nankangs but I had them on my leon last year and they were superb compared to my Falken all weather tyres even in the snow it was predictable and well behaved. I had Avon snow tyres on the cavalier and it kept going in the bad snow on the M1 when everybody else was loosing it. Fitted Maxis to the leon this year so yet to see how they do. First time I used winter tyres last year and now going to use them every year they are that good! Even the Nankangs!

The glow plugs are not used below 3 degC and its very very rare for the M47 to require replacements.
Most trouble is the glow relay when the Plenum drains are blocked!

Plenums are completely bone dry even with all the rain we had last week not even a water line on the pollen filter! Takes more cranking than I think it should to start, got 143000 on the clock and I've bought the glow plugs now so may as well fit them. Spent a fortune so far!
Luckily when I bought it off championdaddy he gave me the Cam and crank sensors.
