I thought of Whitby as a great venue, perhaps a road trip up from Scarborough for the Yorkshire members. And maybe attract a few from the North East.

I'll have a run up in a few weeks and have a look for suitable parking. If we keep it to low season perhaps March/April we will have a better chance.

Spent my honeymoon in Whitby, great place!
Also fell off the sea wall and broke my wrist but that's a different story!

That sounds a possible, many thanks. I'm looking forward to having a run up there, you can't beat that coastal road from Scarborough on a clear day.

I'm sure I'll find a suitable venue..

pab if you come along the A171 from scarborough just short of whitby you come through a village called hawsker just past village is the old railway station which is now a bike hire place, bang opposite is hawsker lane go along there and you will see large carpark on left just to the rear of the abbey.

New Park and ride due in Whitby early next year. Bought my 75 from Harrisons almost nine years ago, just before Rover's demise. Whitby is great to visit, not to live in IMHO. Just another tough Northern town under the party frock.

as i remember there are 4 large bays with parking each side of bay holding about 40cars per bay,so that is a rough total of about 160 cars and most park towards the lower end as it is about 50yds shorter to the path that leads down to town centre.
