There is normally plenty of space on the grassy sections and there is public toilets outside the abbey visitors center. The car park I normally go in is only small but not many people know about it.

You are right Paul, we met on the moors at the Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge and spent a long weekend in Whitby for the first time. The car park at the Inn was large and the one by the abbey was even larger! We also enjoyed the famous northern hospitality we had heard so much about! Whitby was picturesque - an understatement. Just a few photos from the summer to warm you up

That is the same place I saw it parked & that was in the Summer of 2007.

I've spoken to the wife on her return this evening, and she will accompany me on a little trip to Whitby in the next couple of weeks.

I propose we have a road trip from Scarborough and up the coast toward Whitby, which I think will be more than interesting.

I'll find a suitable venue as close to the Town as possible with amenities too. I think March could be a decent date, so I'll post something up in the Yorkshire events and meets section shortly.
