Kev.
That's because in this society, you have to. Being straight is the default and if you are not straight, you have to 'come out' unless you choose to live closeted) - it is still 'a thing'. In doing so you make yourself visible, and sadly in some cases, a target. Our society is not as enlightened as we might like to thing and there is still discrimination, hence the need for pride and to be proud. Pride is not only about celebration but also defiance.

Fair play to Schofe. It's obviously a situation that has been going on for many years and for whatever reason (I suspect either media meddlin, impending formal separation from wife or both), he has now decided to tell his truth, and will now have to deal with the fallout.

Consider that his coming out is not just about him. It is about all the other confused/closeted men of his generation who have trodden a similar path. They have done the 'usual' thing of entering a hetero relationship, got married and had kids, yet all the while dealing with some internal turmoil that most likely for many years they had no idea what it was about. He and his family will find the next few weeks hard as the media cyclone spins but once the dust settles they can continue to develop their new life.

I know if people who have been in this same situation. There is never a perfect outcome, but to be honest and live your truth is always the better outcome.

You funny guy Last time we had a thread like this, a couple of the members “came out” about their gayness. I don’t mind, as long as it’s not rammed down my throat! .....Do have a gay day

I don't care, but when the National News covers it for eight minutes, but the Chinese virus situation is given one and a half minutes, it's clear that some people don't care for that either!
