at the end of the day, like Fred says, the dog was GIVEN to you, that makes it a gift, if Gifts could be taken back legally just like that, then every person who ever gave a gift to some one they then fell out with, would all get all the stuff back. Like Suzublu said, posession is 9 tenths of the law, just keep an eye one him, you dont want this guy stealing him. good luck

If the dog was jointly owned originally, isn't he trying to claim half a dog.

Has the dog been chipped at all, if it has you need to transfer the ownership to you asap, if not then he has no claim on the dog as un chipped dogs dont have registration documents. I wouldnt worry about it unless the dog is in fact chipped.

Just keep the dog & do nothing. I doubt he will go to the police, & if he does then there is so much crime in sunderland I expect they won't be very interested. He will have then to pursue a claim in the civil courts & that will cost him hassle & big money.

Fine looking dog

Hi Andy. I hope things are being sorted and your daughters ok.
As for your lovely doggy. Well, legally, the only thing that stands in your way of possession is if the dog was registered. If she came from a registered breeder she will have her kennel name, her given name, as well as her parents. Whoevers name appears as the owner on that document IS the registered owner. There is a section on this document for change of owner,(ie gift), Just like your 75!
If that's the case she may also have been chipped by the breeder.

If this is not the case and she was bought without her registration it may be a case of who takes "parental" responsibility. Who's vet and vets idea of owner, have you any insurance on her, have YOU had her chipped and any kennels you belong to.

It's a shame he's being such a piece if door furniture and using a pet as amo.

She is lovely and American Bulldogs are so gentle and loving.

I hope this is sorted soon for you all. He may even realise he's being a Numpty soon.

Regards. Steve.
