Hard to choose and i've had both,if you like a smooth comfortable ride the 75 is the one but when i needed an estate i changed from a contemporary cdti 75 to a MG ZT-T as i liked the idea of a sports tourer, great handling although a stiffer ride with slightly more cabin noise, basically both great cars especially with that big diesel lump up front you cant go wrong.

thanks sudderz71 after the Scorpio i would miss the luxury so a connoisseur or a contemporary would be best BUT a part of me wants performance . Has to be diesel though as the scorp only returned around 19 mpg

Hi there,
Had a ZT-T with the x-power suspension pack and now have a contemporary CDTi, the ZT-T handled like a dream and looked gorgeous! However the Contemporary is a much more refined ride and usually alot better specced than the ZT Counterparts. The 17" wheels on the contemporary spec help with the handling too. I do believe that they did a sports pack on the contemporary (cars fitted with this came with Meteor Alloy Wheels.) Best, Jake |

Hi Paul
I have just changed from the MGZT to a contempory and it is as Sudderz says, I am no expert but i dont think there will be much if any difference in performance if they are both diesels. The ZT looks more sporty but the 75 is alot more comfortable. Regards Paul |

The 75 contemporary however is definatly the best of both worlds imo, and if you can live without the sports suspension you will be a very happy person!

According to the brochure:
>>>Diesel Auto 40.8 MPG Combined<<< Personally I can't see how they arrived at that figure.. Combined means 50% (ish) of the time the car was in town, so unable to get 4th or 5th gear, in fact in a busy town it would be lucky to get out of 2nd gear, 2nd gear would do what? 8 mpg? 12? No way would you come out of it with anything like an ave of 40.8 mpg when the best it can do is only 50 mpg ish! My own figures are -- Best ever 46 when on loan to a lady friend going to Cornwall and back, my best ever 42 mpg Down to Charmouth and back. But my ave, based over 20,000 miles has never been more than low to mid 30's.. My car has a Synergy2 and Bosch MAF. Tuner is set to number 6 with the MAF side turned off. Oh and the thermostat is OK.. ... |
