Exclamation Just bought a fantastic 75 1.8T!

Here are the details:

1999 Rover 75 1.8 Turbo in Black
All the options
144,000 miles
FSH
12 Months MOT
11 Months TAX

I picked her up this morning and she is a joy to drive! The steering is a bit vague compared to my ZR but hey, she's a big car!

Is there any problems I should look out for ?

welcome to the club .
a black 18t mmmmmm,, nice to see an 1800 with so many miles on here just proves that if looked after their just the same as any other car ...
as has been said look through the site for things to look for to check .dont forget to check the coolant level regular as these engines can be unforgiving if the coolant is low .listen for the fan cutting in around 104 c ,there is a thread on how to use the display panel to monitor the temp of car .. if you dont hearit or the fan is oming on and going off in quick secession look at the frnt of car through the grill at the 2 o/clock postion to see it there is a silver resistor there. these go and jules a member on here sells an uprated one .i would eimagine that the fan was changed when the engine was changed to a turbo as it is alot of wok to do and they must of known what they was doing ..., check in wheel well for water if found remove and seal the clusters with silicone sealant
enjoy the car and happy motoring

Thanks chrissyboy!

One thing I was wondering about, is whether it has a HGF problem or not ?

As I know most K-Series engines do, so does the 1.8T ?

I know my MG ZR 1.8 VVC's head gasket went a few thousand miles before I bought it and it was changed, so I assume it is the same with the Turbo version ?

If so, the 1.8 Turbo engine was fitted when the car had 11,000 miles on the clock, so that means the actual engine has 133,000 miles on it, and no record of a HG change.

You're obviously familiar with the K Series engine! Watch the oil/coolant levels like a Hawk, as it's just a prone to HGF as other K Series 4-pot engines.

133000 miles without HGF - thats pretty good going!

But I guess it also means it is more likely to get HGF the higher the millage ?

133000 miles without HGF? Possible . . . but i doubt it. I would think it has suffered one at some point.
