Default 75 v6 2002

Hi guys before I scrap it can anyone throw light on this problem.
Car starts and drives as it should. Full of power. Once you have done 10 miles or so it stops. Pull over turn the key off and back on and she starts and drives for a mile or so then stops again. Leave it for an hour to cool down and you can drive again for 10 miles and the same happens again. AA came out and couldn't find any fault. But nothing new there for the AA

Hi Derek.
Did they check the cam sensor & or the crankshaft sensor, I have a couple of spare cam shaft sensors, if you wanted to come to mine or I could pop over to you if you like, or wait until the nano meet, which ever suits you.

As Arctic says above, sounds like cam or crank sensor - as they start to break down they fail when hot, then work again when they cool down.

Had the same issue with my old Mk1 2L but not whilst actually driving. From cold it was an occassional issue but it became a real problem if re-starting with everything either still hot or even just warmish. In my case a new crank position sensor sorted it.

Hi Derek.
It should pick up the fault and point you in the right direction, I will put the cam senor in the box just in case.

A failing cam sensor will only cause non starts - it will not cause a cut out as the cam sensor only comes into play on starting thereafter it does nothing.. As you are having a cut out and she restarts when cool this points to the crank sensor which when failing can cause non start and cut outs .
