Default Michelin or Falken?

I'm in need of a new set of tyres and have been doing the usual round of web searching etc. I've come up with a choice of 2 tyres:

Falken FK-452 or Michelin Pilot Primacy

The tyres are for 17 inch rims, and I'm more concerned about comfort and road noise than edge of the seat cornering performance (I drive a '75, not a ZT ). Some decent rim protection would also be a plus.

Does anyone here have any views on which would be mose suitable? I appreciate the Michelins are more expensive, but am happy to pay the extra if they are the better tyre.

Thanks,

Cliff

N.B. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sports fitted.

No replies yet - and you lot are normally so chatty.

I've been idling my time away searching out old posts re tyres, and am now more undecided than ever. I think I may put a Michelin Pilot Premacy on the front off side; a Godyear F1 Eagle on the front near side; a Falken 452 on the rear near side; and a Vredestein Ultrac Sessantra on the rear off side. Then I'll have the best of all worlds. Perfect.

Any advice on what to put on the spare wheel?

Cliff

It is a Personal Choice at the end of the day.
Tyres that say excellent grip generally wear out Faster.

I did have Good year F1 Eagles, Excellent Tyres,
now going for the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantras,
Tried Dunlop SP9000 Sport Yuk!!
The Pilots do have a following but I haven't tried them to date.

Now your even more confused.
Read the Reviews, Check what qualities you want,
be it Grip in Wet, Quiet Road Noise, etc. then choose.

Lastly, get a Proper 4 wheel Computer aided (and Print Out) Laser Wheel tracking/alignment with full tank of fuel.

I'm running ZT 18's on mine with FK452's. More than happy with them, and half the price of Pilot Sports.

I have however, used Toyo's for many years and would certainly recommend those.

My lad has just had a full four corner job of Falken's on his ZS (from Black Circles) and to be honest they are dam good bits off rubber.
With my ZT i'm sticking to the Conti's at the moment, but having seen these Falkens I may try them for my next change. Only if they do my size!! 18" 225/45w

Cheers

Tim

Thanks for the replys folkes - don't feel quite so lonely anymore.

Still undecided, but I suspect I will end up going for the Michelins - if only because, in 30 years of driving, I have never splashed out on premium tyres before. With all my other cars, I would just go into the local tyre place and ask for "a new tyre please". Never took any real interest on what was fitted as long as they weren't expensive.

These cars really get under your skin, don't they?
