Default Nimrod

Just watching the news and its showing the scrapping of the Nimrod aircraft that have never flown, what a farce and an absolute shame that these beautiful aircraft never left the ground.

Has it actually happened?

I heard on the radio news today that the RAF were making a last ditch attempt to save them.

The news showed film of them being broken up by big digger thingeys behind screens.

This type of waste disgusts me, it just shows what a set of clowns we had (& have) running this country, we must be the laughing stock of the world.

Now there was a plane ahead of its time.

Ten years overdue, £4 billion over budget. An absolute farce by the Labour Government, MoD, RAF, and the Contractors who designed/built it.

Not surprised in the least it was chopped.

It reminds me of the Nimrod AEW farce in the 80s.

That's all down to bad management, at all levels and right across the board - politicians, civil servants and contractors - resulting in loss of jobs and capability. But hey, we're all in it together - they get to waste the money, we (figuratively speaking as I don't actually work in that industry) get to lose jobs.

I was horrified when I first saw the images but I read an article today about it and a lot of experts were saying they done the right thing as it was already years behind technically, and that cheaper drones that could do the job were just around the corner, mothballing wasnt an option as it would have been a waste of money keeping crews trained to use them and keeping parts available and lastly they couldnt sell them to anyone as anyone that wanted them were either hostile or would not get a warranty or backup!

yet again were scrapping something without a replacement

Why when we order something do we not say we want 8 of them at £2billion each cheers then when there over budget say er no , there that much

If you went to buy a mondeo (heavans forbid) you wouldnt expect the garage to say yeah £12k mate then go to fetch it and say oh sorry its £14k - youd say stuff it
